Description

I have a hdd with smart attribute №5 value 1176 and №188 value 40, №188 is incremented after each windows restart. so i want to make email notify about those attributes when they are non-zero or changed.
I tried different settings, but with no luck.

Milestone: Release 6.0

Try smartd.conf directives -R 5! -R 188!. See smartd.conf man page for details.

If it works, close this ticket with "worksforme".

If not, provide the smartd.conf file and the output of smartd -q onecheck as plain text attachments.

If -R ID! is used, mail is only sent after the raw value of ID has CHANGED. A directive for non-zero raw values does not exist.

I restarted Windows and attr # 188 increased, but email message still not have been sended

If state persistence (smartd -s option) is not used, smartd does not know the old value from previous run. Therefore the increase is only detected if it occurs DURING smartd's run.

Also make sure (with -M test directive) that the mailer works in general.

sorry, i am not sure that i properly understand smartd.config man about -s option. could you write me exactly string that i must add to config? thanks.

comment:8 by Christian Franke, 9 years ago

The smartd -s command line OPTION is documented on the smartd man page, not the smartd.conf man page.
