#311 closed defect (fixed)

Wiki FAQ page still points to old repository browser for drive.h

Reported by: Nathan Stratton Treadway Owned by: Christian Franke
Priority: minor Milestone:
Component: wiki Version: 6.2

I noticed that the "drivedb.h" link found in the FAQ Wiki page,

, still points to the old

repository browser rather than the new

one (so when one follows the link one is taken an 8-month-old version of the file).

Similarly, in the "Contribute to Smartmontools: Device Information" section of the Wiki homepage,

, the "current version of smarmtontools drive database" link points to another (apparently obsolete) URL:

(though in this case it does automatically redirect to the "/p/smartmontools/code..." URL).

It appears both these Wiki pages can only be edited by Admins, so I'm opening this ticket to request that.

(While we're on the subject of links in drive.h found in the Wiki: when I was looking at the Download Wiki page's "Update the drive database" section,

, I was a little surprised when the various version-number links listed after the words "via new repository browser:" gave me a Save dialog box rather than linking me into the repository browswer web page.

It certainly does make sense to have direct download-the-text-file links in this section, but I wonder if it makes sense to have links to the actual repository browser, too.... something like:

The {{{drivedb.h}}} file can now be viewed using the new repository browser:
[ 5.40],
[ 5.41],
[ 5.42],
[ 5.43],
[ 6.0],
[ 6.1, 6.2, trunk].

Or you can download the new file directly (as a text file):
[ 5.40],
[ 5.41],
[ 5.42],
[ 5.43],
[ 6.0],
[ 6.1, 6.2, trunk].
