#1759 new defect

My external hard drive won't work with your software (Seagate Backup Plus 8TB)

Description

I own a seagate backup plus drive. It can hold 8T of data. Your software can't find my device despite the fact that Ubuntu Linux can read data from the device and can write to the device. I hope you can remedy this situation soon. I would hate to think that I would have to purchase a Windows computer just to monitor the health of my external hard drive.

Please be more specific and report the smartctl -x /dev/... output for your device here.

Please do not paste smartctl output unchanged to tickets. Use plain-text attachments or wiki markup instead. Do not use screenshots.

Note that if an OS can read/write to a device this does imply that the pass-through functionality required for smartctl is also available. See section "ATA, SCSI command sets and SAT" on smartctl man page for details.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
