#1383 closed enhancement (duplicate)

IronWolf Pro 125

Reported by: floatinglettersllc Owned by:
Priority: minor Milestone: Release 7.2
Component: drivedb Version:
Keywords: ssd Cc:

Description

I was referred to you by Synology. We have 5 new Seagate IronWolf Pro 125 SSD NAS drives. They have a critical error because of an issue Unknown Attribute failure. Are you able to resolve this issue by adding the attributes to your DB? My understanding is that Synology pulls that data.

#246 Unkown_Attribute failed. Error in this S.M.A.R.T attribute usually indicates that severe electronic or physical damages have occurred to the drive, and that the error cannot be suppressed manually. We highly recommend backing up your data and replacing the drive immediately.

S.M.A.R.T Error

Without documentation from Seagate the meaning of attribute 246 this could only be guessed. A few existing drivedb entries define 246 as Total_LBAs_Written, SLC_Writes_32MiB, Total_Erase_Count or Timed_Workld_RdWr_Ratio.

The screenshots shows bogus values for this attribute. If Threshold is 255, an attribute could interpreted as "always failing".

Attribute failure detection could be suppressed with option -v 246,hex64,Bogus_Attribute.

A drive database entry cannot be added based on the info from the screenshots as no device IDENTIFY string is visible. Please provide a smartctl -x ... output for an affected device as a text/plain attachment. Don't use screenshots.
