#1084 | duplicate | Smart details of Micron_1100_MTFDDAK256TBN
Description |
Hello, We are running a smartctl test on the device mentioned above to determine the wear or Percent_Lifetime_Used in the goal of knowing when the device might fail. However we are unable to get that information from the test. Is it something that is not provided by the disk manufacturer or is it not available in the smartmon database? Below are details of the disk. I will also be attaching a file for the full test: 8<-------------------------------8< **/usr/sbin/smartctl -a /dev/sdb** smartctl 6.6 2016-05-31 r4324 [x86_64-linux-4.9.0-6-amd64] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-16, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Device Model: Micron_1100_MTFDDAK256TBN Serial Number: 171619E08E1D LU WWN Device Id: 5 00a075 119e08e1d Firmware Version: M0MU031 User Capacity: 256,060,514,304 bytes [256 GB] Sector Size: 512 bytes logical/physical Rotation Rate: Solid State Device Form Factor: 2.5 inches Device is: Not in smartctl database [for details use: -P showall] ATA Version is: ACS-3 T13/2161-D revision 5 SATA Version is: SATA 3.2, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s) Local Time is: Tue Sep 4 08:47:34 2018 CEST SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. #1092 | duplicate | Seagate Backup Plus Hub 8 TB

I am having trouble reading the SMART output of a Seagate Backup Plus Hub 8 TB on Debian Stretch. Without specifying a -d argument, smartctl fails saying

My question is if this can be considered normal behavior and the drive does indeed not support additional output or if the support from smartmontools is incomplete? |
