#546 | fixed | JMicron JMS566 bridge
Description |
I have a 2.5 external case(1) with a JMS566 bridge that isn't recognized by smartctl. It seems to work with "-d sat", which is different from the other JMS566 bridge listed in drivedb.h. Attached is the output of lsusb and an attempt at providing a patch to add this bridge into drivedb.h. Let me know if any other information is needed. (1) Cheap noname USB3 external case bought on ebay. |

#548 | fixed | smartctl mistakenly reports error where none is...
Description |
The offending line/output is: SMART Status command failed: scsi error medium or hardware error (serious) I noticed this odd behavior when I upgraded from smartmontools from 5.41 to 6.4 (automatically triggered in Debian when diet-upgrading from Wheezy to Jessie). I had several SATA drives (SSD and rotational) that I had tested when connected via SATA and they tested fine, in both 5.41 and in 6.4. When connected to a supported USB FA-GoFlex Desk device, it worked fine under 5.41. After upgrading to 6.4, I saw this erroneous output : smartctl 6.4 2014-10-07 r4002 [armv5tel-linux-3.14.0-kirkwood-tld-1] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-14, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Model Family: Western Digital Red Device Model: WDC WD10EFRX-68FYTN0 Serial Number: WD-WCC4J4YR09FP LU WWN Device Id: 5 0014ee 2b64e6f60 Firmware Version: 82.00A82 User Capacity: 1,000,204,886,016 bytes [1.00 TB] Sector Sizes: 512 bytes logical, 4096 bytes physical Rotation Rate: 5400 rpm Device is: In smartctl database [for details use: -P show] ATA Version is: ACS-2 (minor revision not indicated) SATA Version is: SATA 3.0, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 1.5 Gb/s) Local Time is: Sat May 9 16:52:44 2015 CDT SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability.
