#257 | fixed | Intel 320 40GB SSD not recognized
Description |
Hello, We have a few Intel 320 SSDs of various sizes. They are all recognized in smartmontools 5.4.3 with a current drivedb.h with the exception of our 40GB models. Below is output from a 40GB that's not recognized. Please let me know if you require further information to get this drive in the database. It appears this line in drivedb.h is missing a possible match: "INTEL SSDSA[12]C[WT](040|080|120|160|300|600)G3" SSDSA2BT040G3 This line seems to work: "INTEL SSDSA[12][BC][WT](040|080|120|160|300|600)G3" 40GB output before: smartctl 5.43 2012-06-30 r3573 [FreeBSD 8.3-STABLE amd64] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-12 by Bruce Allen, http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Device Model: INTEL SSDSA2BT040G3 Serial Number: CVPR210300YJ040AGN LU WWN Device Id: 5 001517 bb28758fb Firmware Version: 4PC10362 User Capacity: 40,020,664,320 bytes [40.0 GB] Sector Size: 512 bytes logical/physical Device is: Not in smartctl database [for details use: -P showall] ATA Version is: 8 ATA Standard is: ATA-8-ACS revision 4 Local Time is: Fri Jan 11 05:01:08 2013 EST SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. #258 | fixed | Attrib 198 (Uncorrectable_Sector_Ct) incorrectly decoded on Sandforce SSD's
Description |
It seems like attrib 198 (Uncorrectable_Sector_Ct) is being incorrectly decoded on Sandforce SSD's. Most manufactures of these drives don't implement attrib 198 but Kingston E100 series do and this causes smartd to report errors due to increasing "Offline uncorrectable sectors". On these disks this attrib is "Uncorrectable sector count relative to the number of sectors read this power cycle." so its not a pure error count and hence should not be treated as such. The details on how to decode the attrib values can be found here:- http://media.kingston.com/support/downloads/MKP_306_SMART_attribute.pdf |
